About the Role
We are seeking a Part-Time DevOps Engineer to help maintain and enhance our cutting-edge
trading technology infrastructure. In this hybrid role, you will ensure that our AI-driven quantitative
trading platform runs smoothly, securely, and efficiently. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-driven
engineer who is passionate about DevOps and interested in working with advanced AI automation in a
quantitative finance environment.
What You'll Do
- Internal IT Infrastructure: Maintain and manage the company’s internal IT systems for
administrative operations (e.g. corporate email, third-party cloud services) to ensure smooth daily
business functioning.
- Trading Platform Infrastructure: Maintain and improve the core infrastructure
supporting our quantitative trading system R&D, including:
- CI/CD Pipelines: Manage continuous integration/deployment workflows (GitHub
Actions and self-hosted CI pipelines) to streamline development and deployment.
- AI Automation Workflows: Oversee AI-driven automation processes (leveraging
on-premises large language models) that assist in coding, testing, and monitoring tasks.
- Monitoring Systems: Implement and monitor system health dashboards (e.g.
Grafana, Prometheus) to ensure high availability and performance of our services.
- Virtualization & Storage: Manage virtualization containers and storage
solutions (LXC, Docker, S3) to support research and trading operations.
- Configuration & Deployment: Use Ansible (and similar tools) for automated
provisioning, configuration management, and deployment of systems.
- Data Systems: Set up and maintain data storage, retrieval, and visualization systems
for business and trading data. Ensure that data pipelines and databases are reliable, secure, and easily
accessible for analysis and reporting.
What You'll Bring — Required
- Systems Administration: Proficiency in Linux and Windows system administration, with a
solid understanding of networking and security best practices.
- Scripting & Automation: Strong coding/scripting skills in Python and Bash for
automation and tooling.
- DevOps & Tools: Experience with CI/CD tools and workflows (GitHub Actions or similar),
containerization technologies (Docker and/or LXC), and infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g. Grafana,
Prometheus).
- Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud services (Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft
Azure) is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills with fluency in both English and Chinese
(Mandarin), able to document processes and collaborate with a bilingual team.
- Personal Attributes: High sense of responsibility, self-motivated and able to work
independently. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to learning new technologies.
Work Arrangement
- Location: Hybrid work model with flexibility. The majority of work can be done
remotely. Occasional on-site work in Vancouver is required.
- Type: Part-time role with on-demand scheduling. Work is arranged in advance based on
project and operational needs, providing flexibility to accommodate other commitments.
